Wine year 2025 - A year full of excitement and character
Green Christmas and a winter with little precipitation allowed pruning to progress quickly in pleasant temperatures. In mid-February, a brief drop in temperature with a blanket of snow nevertheless provided a hint of winter, before a warming quickly followed and the warmer-than-average months of March and April heralded the early start of vegetation.
Bud burst began correspondingly early – fortunately, our vineyards were spared late frost. May turned out to be cool and damp, allowing the soil to replenish its water reserves well before June, with its extreme heat and dryness, brought ideal conditions for the decisive flowering of the vines. As a hermaphrodite, the vine is not dependent on insects, but on stable, dry flowering weather – conditions that were met this year.A cooler July slowed down vegetation development and ensured a balanced growth phase. This was followed by warm days and cool nights in August – ideal conditions for the ripening of aromatically expressive grapes. The main harvest began in the second week of September and presented us with particular challenges due to recurring rainfall. Thanks to the experience and commitment of our tried-and-tested harvest team, we still managed to harvest beautifully selected, high-quality grapes and complete the harvest in good time before the next rain event. The wines of the 2025 vintage are characterised by a very beautiful aroma, a pleasant balance on the palate and a moderate alcohol content.
Happy drinking.
