Sauvignon blanc Ried Oberglanzberg Südsteiermark DAC 2019

In the glass, the wine displays a radiant golden-yellow color with high viscosity. On the nose, it unfolds a complex bouquet of alpine herbs, spicy juniper notes, and subtle hints of honey. On the palate, it reveals concentrated fruit sweetness, while also being impressively spicy and mineral. Refined and powerfully structured, the wine captivates with depth and tension. The finish is long-lasting and lingering, carried by spice and mineral precision. A powerful, complex wine with great expression.

Year & vinification

Year:
Due to the mild winter and low rainfall, budbreak in early-ripening varieties was already evident by the end of March. Starting in April, the weather changed; rain alleviated the water shortage, and cold nights slowed growth. Only the night of May 6–7 was at risk of frost, though no damage occurred. June was hot, followed by a rather dry summer. A cooler period began in September, which had a positive effect on aromas and acidity. The main harvest began in mid-September and continued into October—with healthy, ripe grapes.

Vinification:
Aged on the fine lees for 24 months in large wooden barrels and matured
