Sauvignon blanc Ried Lubekogel Südsteiermark DAC 2024

In the glass, this single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc presents itself in a radiant white-gold hue with a high viscosity that already hints at depth, ripeness, and substance. On the nose, this single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is multi-layered and deep. Hints of white chocolate evoke a delicate, creamy sweetness, accompanied by subtle notes of honey and vanilla. At the same time, a cool cassis note adds tension and freshness. The bouquet is dense, elegant, and superbly integrated—complex yet clearly focused. On the palate, the wine is taut, extremely spicy, and full-bodied. The precise structure supports the ripe aromas, while subtle smoky notes from the oak aging lend additional depth and nobility. Despite its power, the Sauvignon remains focused. The finish is exceptionally long, powerful, and lingering—a great single-vineyard wine with character, tension, and enormous aging potential.

Year & vinification

Year:
A virtually snow-free and warm winter led to very early budbreak. Despite a severe cold snap in mid-April, the vines remained frost-free thanks to their high-altitude vineyard locations. A cool early summer with ample rainfall during flowering, followed by a dry, hot summer, meant that the harvest began as early as the end of August. The result is fantastic grapes with a balanced sugar-to-acid ratio.

Vinification:
Aged and matured for 15 months on the fine lees in large used oak barrels
