Morillon Leutschach Südsteiermark DAC 2025

In the glass, the Morillon displays a brilliantly clear straw-yellow color with a dense viscosity. On the nose, the Morillon exhibits typical Burgundian characteristics and subtle nuances. Delicate notes of fresh white bread and vineyard peach meet a hint of blossom honey. The bouquet is calm, harmonious, and elegant, with subtle depth and a clear sense of terroir. On the palate, the wine is balanced and juicy. A delicate hint of honeydew melon accompanies yellow fruit aromas of ripe apple and stone fruit. The well-integrated spice lends structure and length, with nuances of pear and quince emerging on the finish. An elegant, Burgundy-style Morillon with substance, finesse, and a lingering finish.

Year & vinification

Year:
The winter was dry and unusually mild, allowing the vines to bud harmoniously in mid-April. Thanks to the high elevation of our vineyards, there was no frost damage, and flowering proceeded exceptionally well under ideal weather conditions in May and June. The summer then turned out to be extremely dry and hot, resulting in small, highly concentrated berries. The early start to the harvest on September 1st yielded exceptional quality—wines with delicate fruit, slightly lower alcohol content, and a wonderfully lively acidity.

Vinification:
Aged and matured for 8 months on the fine lees in large used wooden barrels
