Sauvignon blanc Gamlitz Südsteiermark DAC 2022

In the glass, the wine displays a brilliant straw-yellow color with green highlights. On the nose, it unfolds a complex bouquet of passion fruit, fresh snow peas, kiwi, and gooseberries. On the palate, it is authentic and distinctive, characterized by juicy flavors of ripe passion fruit and sugar snap peas. Abundant fruit and remarkable body combine with pleasant spice to create a dense, powerful overall impression. The wine remains powerful and precise through the finish, with a lingering length. A wine of strong character and expressiveness with a clear signature.

Year & vinification

Year:
A dry, almost snowless winter laid the foundation, even though budbreak did not occur until late, at the end of April. Warm, humid weather before early flowering provided the initial boost, and ideal, dry conditions prevailed during the flowering period at the end of May. June brought above-average rainfall, while hot, dry weeks in July and August—always interspersed with sufficient rainfall, unlike in the rest of Austria—defined the summer. The harvest took place somewhat earlier, with the main harvest at the end of September, and the precise timing of the harvest was crucial to the harmony and fruitiness of this vintage.

Vinification:
Aged and matured for 7 months on the lees in stainless steel tanks and large oak barrels (60/40)
