Sauvignon blanc Ried Oberglanzberg Südsteiermark DAC 2021 Magnum

In the glass, the wine presents itself as a brilliant white-gold with high viscosity. On the nose, a complex bouquet unfolds, featuring ripe nectarines, kumquats, exotic passion fruit, and subtle hints of honey. On the palate, this single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc also delights with a pronounced fruitiness, accompanied by spice and distinctive minerality. Juicy stone fruit notes characterize the finish and lead to an impressively spicy, mineral mouthfeel. The finish is extremely long-lasting and persistent. A powerful, profound single-vineyard wine with great precision and impressive length.

Year & vinification

Year:
A dry, almost snowless winter laid the groundwork, but budbreak was delayed and did not begin until early May. Before flowering, above-average temperatures brought intense heat, followed by ideal dry conditions that led to vine flowering in late May. This was followed by above-average rainfall in June. Hot and dry weeks characterized July and August, which meant that the harvest took place somewhat later than usual—with the main harvest beginning in early October.

Vinification:
Aged on the fine lees for 18 months in large wooden barrels and matured
